(Torax)

Torax handcycle

(under development)

The Torax is a unique cycling vehicle designed for individuals with leg disabilities.  Torax was developed as a recreational solution for cycling, riding, and training, to provide a different alternative to wheelchairs and to enhance the user’s sense of power and control. Developed as part of my Industrial Design thesis, the Torax features a streamlined design that prioritizes ease of use, and presents the rider in a dominant and powerful position.
With the aim of further simplifying systems and reducing complexity, the team is now working on Version 2. This cycling vehicle provides a new and exciting option for individuals with disabilities to experience the joy of cycling and engage in physical activity.

Although we have not yet created the Version 2 prototype, we are excited to share our design as Open Source for anyone to use and develop. If you’re interested in exploring the Torax and collaborating with us to bring it to life, please feel free to contact us. We’re looking forward to working together on this exciting project!

We believe in the power of collaboration and encourage makers, cooperatives, technical schools, NGOs, and companies to build upon our design. We´ll make parts list, files package and all the necessary information available on Wikifactory, a social platform for collaborative product development where you can also share feedback, contribute, and collaborate.
